Who are we
Liesje grew up in the region of Antwerp (Belgium). In 1996 they left for Portugal with their truck loaded with 2 horses, 2 dogs, some chickens and their tipi setting out for a new challenge, a new life. After visiting friends in the French Pyrenees, one of their sheep came along. When they arrived in Ervedal da Beira, in the center of Portugal, they (friend Jan and his family who lived there already for some years) decided to start a biological agricultural project. Grow vegetables, guarding sheep and goats, making cheese, wine, jams … The horses helped them ploughing the land and because they also could borrow two Portuguese horses, they could guide tourists through the beautiful neighborhood they had a good time but after half a year they decided to separate from their friends. They moved 5 times in 3 years but always in the same region. Wherever they went, they guided people on their horses. Thanks to the mobile phone, people always could reach them. Finally they settled in Midões. A very beautiful and historical village nearby Tábua. Tom decided to live another life and Liesje still organizes trek kings along the most beautiful region of Portugal and hosts people in the guest guest house guesthouse. Conny a young German woman(who speaks English,French and Portuguese) guide the guid trek kings the trekkings now .Because she lives for 4 years in the region she knows the most beautiful guides and guids you to places no one was before. She's professional musician musision and gives jembé courses here in Portugal.
Our farm
Quinta D´Alegria( Regada) is an area southwest of Midões … Regada is 1 of the farms in this location… the Shepherd Antonio Pereira, used to live here with his family … it was a very fertile piece of land of about 3 ha. They had a big herd and people would come a long way to trade or buy sheep. One day Antonio lost his hand in a community party holding a firecracker. Bad treatment brought an infection and he lost his life. The farm got abandoned; overgrown with blackberry bushes, half of the fields ploughed and dry. Fruit trees wild and others dead. That's the way they found Regada in 1998, with the roof of the side building collapsed, the house with its furniture and a 12-year-old layer of dust on top, the wine casks full of vinegar.
